OOTL: Gardaland's X-Raptor track COMPLETE

Since today we're speaking about coaster construction, why not looking at what Gardaland (in Italy) is doing with its own, new B&M coaster (that's going to open around April 2011)?:

After only 60 days the track of the Italian most impressive and extreme roller coaster
 has been completed.

The theming works for the outstanding brand new ride of 2011 will start on the very first days of the new year! Despite the prohibitive weather conditions (snow, ice and rain), Gardaland proceeds relentlessly towards completion of the great new ride of 2011.

The track layout was completed by [December 2010]: we are talking about the very impressive rollercoaster that the Amusement Park will unveil next season. It is already possible, right now, to admire the majesty of the steel structure put together by the English firm Hopkinson – specialised in this type of assembling – in record time, a mere 60 days!

Over 10,000 bolts were tightened to keep together the columns and the 76 rails where two mysterious and futuristic gigantic trains will very soon be running.

The last track layout sector - 10 metres long and with a weight of 9,600 kilos – was suitably prepared and secured by specialised staff, appointed with the task of closely following all phases of the installation process.

Furthermore the track has been signed with a permanent pen and proudly marked by Gardaland Park flag. The delicate last phase was followed and supervised by the whole workforce and by the Local Project Manager in a truly breathtaking moment.

In less than 40 minutes the track was put in place; the last piece - part of 770-metre-long “fast ring” - was placed by a crane with millimetric precision to prove the design perfection which characterises these complex as well as unusual structures made for “adrenalinic fun”.

The ride will stretch across a land of over 16 thousand square metres with 2 thrilling speed peaks of 90 km/h: therefore it will be the fastest Park ride. Thanks to a 33-metre-high fall on Rio Bravo Western Village and an inclination of 65 degrees, the fast and steep drop will give each train a strong speedup. The full-load train weight - with 84 wheels - is 18,000 kg.

Last but not least the chain-lift 45 degrees inclined will reach the height of 30 metres above the station; three inversions are confirmed - “head over heels stints” - as well as 90 degrees turns and a series of exciting and particular technical “subterfuges” that will leave you literally breathless.

The first days of January will be related to the installation of mechanical and electric plants, as well as the ones dealing with the scenography. After only 5 months since the official beginning of the works, at Gardaland everything proceeds according to the plans, which will lead us to the opening of an unforgettable new season with a great icon of fun, rich in adrenalin, speed and thrilling moments.

Well, the coaster mania is really affecting the whole world... This is going to be a great coaster too, but I don't think it will be better than our beloved (yes, I know, it's not open yet) "Cheetah Hunt"! What do you think?

  1. I think sounds really good! Every coaster news is good news in my book. Especially if is well thought out and has a good design. Since it is a B&M it would probably be a nice one.

You need to get in touch with your contacts in Italy for a full pic-update... LoL But did it mention the scenic, if it would be nicely themed? I love coasters, but the themed ones are even better!
