Advisory #1 - Systems Outage on Tuesday (WDW)

A quick update from the Walt Disney World resort:

In order for the Walt Disney World resort to continue to flourish as a magical destination, it is necessary to make enhancements from time to time.  As a result, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14, the property will be experiencing a computer systems upgrade.  The upgrade should be completed Wednesday morning, December 15 (no exact time can be shared at this time). To assist in making WDW guests' vacation experience as seamless as possible during this system upgrade, please note the following information, which is also being shared directly with Disney resort hotel guests via a letter placed in their hotel room.
  • If guests would like to make a dining or dinner show (e.g., Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show, or Mickey’s Backyard BBQ) reservation for any time prior to noon Wednesday, December 15, we recommend doing so by 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 14.
  • In addition, if attending a dinner show on Tuesday, December 14, they encourage guests to pick up their tickets at the Lobby Concierge prior to 5:30 p.m. that day.
  • The ability to post room charges may be temporarily disrupted. In the unlikely event that guests are unable to use their room card to purchase food or merchandise on the evening of Tuesday, December 14, we're encouraging them to plan to have an alternate form of payment available. Note: this temporary disruption will not impact any Disney Dining Plans.
  • Should guests wish to purchase or upgrade existing Magic Your Way and Cirque du Soleil La Nouba™ tickets from the comfort and convenience of their Disney resort hotel, they will want to do so prior to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 14.  Though ticket purchases can also be made at our Theme Parks for park admission and at the Cirque du Soleil Box Office for show admission, guests will want to allow extra time as they may experience longer wait times at these locations.  (A special note for Guests who qualify for group/convention tickets: they may purchase these tickets at the Guest Relations locations at the four Theme Parks.)
  • If guests are interested in attending the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on Tuesday, December 14, they will also want to ensure tickets to this special event are purchased prior to 5:30 p.m. that day.

  2. I'm wondering what this "upgrade" actually is. Is it new computers, Windows 7, new software, or etc.

  3. I have no idea what they do during this time, but I sure think it's something very complicated, as it takes all night to do it! Maybe they're changing the softwares for real, Austin!

  4. It is a whole new property management program for all the resorts, reservation centers, DVC, Convention business areas, and some updates and upgrade to other various programs around the WDW property. The new hotel program has been in developement for about 5 years.
    No new computers, or W7.
