"Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit".
It seems like the coaster may remain closed until the end of the year (2010)!

Sources told WFTV early Friday afternoon that the 'Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit' roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida is shut down and has been shut down since September 14.
According to those sources, the shutdown is due to "structural" issues, but the theme park says it's for maintenance.

Skywitness 9 HD flew over the ride Friday and it was clearly not operating.
Universal Studios released a statement Friday afternoon saying, "We are obsessive about safety. We have aggressive inspection and safety programs in place for all our rides and attractions. Those programs meet or exceed all manufacturer guidelines. Anything in a September 2nd manufacturer's advisory would have been dealt with weeks ago. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is temporarily closed for unrelated maintenance."

Can you imagine visitors coming to Universal once in a lifetime that would have liked to ride HRRR?
They will sure be a bit mad. And they should be.

It's been more than an year like this. This coaster was born with many issues..... that are still unsolved!

  2. Structural issues doesn't surprise me. The other X-Coaster in the US at Magic Springs also suffers from structural issues. Which ultimately closed it for multiple years but it is now operating or close to operating again.
