Journey into Imagination - RIDE OVERVIEW

The Journey into Imagination ride has been completely ruined over the past few years, everybody knows that. From a spectacular, E-ticket dark ride, it became a lame C-ticket ride.
But, let's see the current status of the ride, including the ride's props and environments:

History of the Magic Kingdom

Have you ever wondered how many times the "Main Street Electrical parade" was replaced by the Spectromagic? Or, what about the opening day of "Magic Journeys"? All of this, and soooooo much more in this great (and long!!) update on Magic Kingdom's history! It took me a long time to sort, adjust and find these information, but I did it:

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea - Closing On September 5, 1994, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea closes as a Fantasyland attraction in the MAGIC KINGDOM®Park at the WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort.
"American Journeys" - Opens On September 15, 1984, "American Journeys" (CircleVision 360 film presentation) opens as a Tomorrowland attraction in the MAGIC KINGDOM® Park at the WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort. (Closes January 9, 1994) (see also "Magic Carpet 'Round the World and "America the Beautiful")
Astro Orbiter - Opening On April 30, 1994, Astro Orbiter opens as a Tomorrowland attraction in the MAGIC KINGDOM® Park …

How many dinosaurs do you see on the Jurrasic Park River Adventure? In total, just 16.

Work continues on the new meet-and-greets:

We would like to announce that from today, you can contribute too! By submitting a donation (any amount you'd like!) you can help us to pay for some of the many services we offer you!
By donating the money, we assure you that they will be used ONLY for OTPN-related things, including the following:

New doors for parking trams

Just two days ago, while visiting Disney's Animal Kingdom, i noticed that there was a different kind of tram in the parking lot. It actually had... doors, like the ones they are currently using at Disneyland resort in California!
Here you are the pictures, that will make everything clear:
This is the NORMAL parking tram, as seen in any Disney Park in Florida:

New video of Cheetaka

The third video of Cheetaka, Busch Gardens' newest roller coaster has been released! Go to the following address:

Wild Africa Trek construction update

As some of you may know, a new Safari experience is going to "open" at the beginning of 2011. It will be called

And here you are some pictures of the progress on the new tents that are being built inside the Kilimanjaro Safaris area:

Farewell, Village Beatniks

Yesterday I had the great opportunity of seeing the last performance of the Village Beatniks, a lively band that gathered near the entrance to Disnoland U.S.A. inside the Disney's Animal kingdom theme park.
Here you are a couple of pictures of them:

Future World extends hours!

A great news for all Epcot fans (including myself!)! All the attractions of Future World will open from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. daily, starting OCTOBER 3rd, 2010! Before, only Spaceship Earth, Mission:Space, Test track, Soarin' and The Seas with Nemo and Friends were open until 9 P.M., while all the other rides and attraction used to close at 7 P.M.
Now, even the Universe of Energy, Innoventions East, Innovention West, Captain EO, Journey into Imagination, Circle of Life and Living with the Land will remain open until 9! I'm very happy about this, especially because I normally visit the parks after 4 p.m.
It's a great move in my opinion, as people can now choose which attractions they want to see, whenever they want to. What's your opinion?

Animal Kingdom update (Sept. 2010)

Today we proudly present to you a new update on Disney's Animal Kingdom!:

Let the memories begin?

Yes, that's the name of WDW's newest celebration that will begin January 2011. What's the question mark for, you may ask. Well, it represent the doubt of the successfulness of this week's "incredible' announcement.... which was not really that great.
Here's what the Orlando Sentinel wrote: ________________________________________ Disney followers wanted more scoop from announcements
Disney Parks’ announcements were met with yawns, barbs and isolated enthusiasm on the Internet on Thursday. The company’s news conference, available through live streaming, revealed details about  a new marketing campaign (“Let the Memories Begin”) and an opportunity to have families’ pictures projected onto the spires of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom. It also rehashed news regarding the Disney Cruise Line and the re-imagined Star Tours ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The public may have been anticipating bigger developments after the Disney Parks Blog announced the event We…

New robots for Star Tours 2!!

The Disney Parks Blog has finally announced that new "droids" will join the new Star Tour attraction when it will open, in fall 2011!
The Complete news (with some pictures) from the official Disney Parks Blog: ______________________________________
"Since everything we do at Imagineering starts with the story, it probably comes as no surprise that one of the first things we set out to do with the new Star Tours show was to figure out when our story should take place within the Star Wars timeline.
The existing Star Tours show we internally refer to as “6.5,” since it takes place time-wise after Episode VI Return of the Jedi. Story development for the new show began “a long time ago,” back in 1998, and a story treatment from that year carries the title “Episode 7 – A Star Tours Classic” – referring to the Boonta Classic race that was to be the main feature of the show.
But by the time Episode I hit the screens, we were all anxious to know what would surface in Episode III that…

Disney's Yatch Club resort

The Disney Look... to the Past! (09/20 - 09/26)

Here you are this week's look at the past of the (Disney) World, land and company!:
This Week in Disney History: September 20-26

September 24, 1961 - "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color" debuts on NBC The original "Disneyland" show in 1954 was one of the considerations given to ABC in exchange for helping financing the first Disney theme park in Anaheim. By 1960, Disneyland had turned enough of a profit for Walt Disney to buy out ABC's stake in the park, and Walt wanted to take advantage of the latest technology for the television medium. General Electric's NBC network had the ability to broadcast in color, and many episodes of "Walt Disney Presents" had been shot in color for the still-black & white ABC. In 1961, Walt relaunched the show on the Peacock Network, featuring the classic kaleidoscopic title sequence and theme music penned by Richard and Robert Sherman. The first episode also marked the debut of Ludwig von Drake, the bumbl…

How to make a perfect pizza?

Do you want to know how to make a very good pizza? Yes? Then look at this great video from the  Disney Parks Blog:

We can’t get enough of the classic Margherita pizza at the new Via Napoli at the Italy pavilion in Epcot World Showcase. (Did you know that the name came from Queen Margherita who was served a pizza resembling the colors of the Italian flag during a visit to Naples in 1889: red tomatoes, white mozzarella and green basil?)

Take a look at this video with Via Napoli Chef Charlie Restivo, pizza man extraordinaire. He shares the restaurant’s secrets – the water; imported flour, tomatoes and cheese; and hand-stretching the dough. And his pizza is crisp in two minutes – with the ovens cranked up over 700°F, that’s still surprisingly quick.

Oh, yes. This is a good pizza!!

Block Party Bash parade video

Since the "Block Party Bash parade" is going to leave Disney's Hollywood Studios soon (the Block Party bash parade will have its final run January 1, 2010 while the new parade will begin on January 16, 2010), the OTPN staff has realized a video of it:

So, have you ever seen this parade in person? Did you like it, or you didn't even want to see it? Please, tell us what you think about it!

Disney's Hollywood Studios update

Here you are a quick new update of Disney's Hollywood Studios!:

Busch Gardens' teaser videos

Two of Busch Gardens' teaser videos are now available on their official site dedicated ti the great, new roller coaster - CHEETAKA! By the way, this new coaster will indeed feature up-close encounters with cheetahs, and it will be mostly focused on speed, rather than on inversions (even though some rumors indicate that there may be a couple of inversions).

Just go to Busch Gardens 2011, and you will see some blank spots where it says "INSERT CODE" or something like that. There are two videos that are available as of today. The first video requires the password "CHASE", and it will show you the start of the ride itself, while the second video (that has been unlocked just yesterday) can be seen by submitting the password "RUSH".
Judging by these two new videos, what do you think? Will this new ride be thrilling enough for you? It sure will! And the theming will be top-notch (not comparable to Disney standards, but close enough.)
More info are coming soon! C…

Even more bad news.....

Bad news never come alone. There's a new piece of information that may hurt many of you that would like to ride Universal Studios' newest rollercoaster "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit". The ride has been closed "indefinitely" (it doesn't mean that it will be destroyed or abandoned, but it means it will take much longer to fix it). Indeed, the timeline to fix the ride has been extended.

Here's the sad news from the Orlando Sentinel: _________________________
Universal's Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster closed indefinitely Reason for last week's shutdown of the Universal Studios ride is still a mystery.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, the year-old roller coaster at Universal Studios that shut down last week for repairs, will remain closed longer than initially expected.
Universal Orlando said Monday it decided to perform annual maintenance now that the thrill ride is already offline. "We added annual maintenance to the work schedule for efficiency," sp…

More info about Aulani resort

The great Disney resort that is being built in Hawaii is really coming along nicely, and the Disney parks Blog has posted a nice update that includes a video that shows some information about the resort and its "history".
From the official Disney parks blog: _________________________
A Closer Look at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa,  With Joe Rohde and Djuan Rivers
In an earlier post I talked about the beauty of the location for Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olina, Hawai`i, but – wouldn’t you know – a picture is worth a thousand words. I think this video at least begins to convey what a spectacular, fun and magical resort Aulani will be.
Imagineer Joe Rohde is the leader of the creative team on the project. Anyone who’s heard Joe talk about a project – he led and continues to oversee the Imagineering team for Disney’s Animal Kingdom – knows his passion for storytelling and his dedication to the real world people and places represented at Disney Parks and Resorts. In this…

NEW Hacienda de San Angel pictures

Finally, after many months of construction, the new Hacienda de San Angel is now open, and boy, isn't it great! Here's a big photo-report of the restaurant, but we didn't get to eat there yet, so you'll have to wait a bit more for a complete review...
Here you are the pictures!:

Report cards are coming soon....

Yes, even though school may have just started, here at OTPN we are already giving out... the report cards! Coming soon are report cards of all four Disney theme parks, with votes and explanations, to see which rides and shows are the best... and which are not-so-good, according to us.
By the way, remember to continue to vote on our Tournaments of the Best Rides of The Year, where you decide which rides deserve a prize! The Tournaments are scheduled to end by the beginning of October (the timeline has been extended a bit more), so please vote! Thanks!
Our report cards are coming... next week.

More news on HRRR

Thanks to the great Screamscape, we have some more news regarding the temporary closure of  "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit". It seems like the coaster may remain closed until the end of the year (2010)!  More news from WDBO local news: _________________________
Sources told WFTV early Friday afternoon that the 'Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit' roller coaster at Universal Studios Florida is shut down and has been shut down since September 14.  According to those sources, the shutdown is due to "structural" issues, but the theme park says it's for maintenance.
Skywitness 9 HD flew over the ride Friday and it was clearly not operating.  Universal Studios released a statement Friday afternoon saying, "We are obsessive about safety. We have aggressive inspection and safety programs in place for all our rides and attractions. Those programs meet or exceed all manufacturer guidelines. Anything in a September 2nd manufacturer's advisory would have been dealt with weeks …

What's happening to HRRR?

Everybody knows how many problems "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit" roller coaster is giving to Universal Orlando, but now the matter is getting very serious.
Here you are some more informations about the issues of the coaster directly from Screamscape: _________________________
I’ve got a public confirmation about one of the issues that has caused the temporary shutdown of the Hollywood Rockit. A technical service alert from Maurer Sohne was released this month that reports that the ‘coupling bar’ between the cars on all of the X-Car / Sky-Loop train systems are “not fatigue endurable”. In other words, they are showing signs of stress that could lead to a possible failure.      As such, Maruer will be redesigning the parts and offering up the fix in approximately 2-3 months. “Any operation of the Sky Loop or X-Car Coaster with tandem train must be immediately and strictly stopped until the examination has been evaluated!” So… the ride’s shut down for the short term at least because …

Duffy the Bear special event!

Yesterday there was a special event that took place inside the old Odyssey restaurant, where all the Disney Annual Passholders were invited to discover something new about a character that is not very famous here in the United States..... YET!
I'm talking about DUFFY, the DISNEY BEAR! He's coming to both Epcot and Disney California Adventure to stay and meet and greet people!

First, let's see the pictures of the event (they didn't allow pictures during the show itself, but I took some photos before it started) and then I'll explain to you what's coming!:
