More info about Prince Charming carousel

Image
Here you are some insider's informations about the carousel that is going to change name TOMORROW:

Built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company in 1917 for the Detroit Palace Garden Park, the Carrousel’s horses all move up and down, while merry-go-rounds have some non-moving horses. It was originally red, white and blue, symbolizing the patriotism of the era, with figures of Miss Liberty. In 1928, the carrousel was brought back to Philadelphia for refurbishment where it spent the next 39 years at Olympic Park in Maplewood, New Jersey. When Maplewood closed in 1967 and Disney Imagineers discovered the Carrousel, it was fully restored in time for the opening of Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971, with a new look celebrating the story of Cinderella. Along with 2,325 lights and 18 hand-painted scenes on the canopy, the five different sizes of hard-maple horses (18 rows of five horses each) are arranged from the largest on the outside to the smallest on the inside.  The band organ that adds …

Walt Disney: One Man's Dream

We received the news that the "museum" in Disney's Hollywood Studios is going to close for an extensive refurbishment from August 16th to November 2nd!!
It's a bit too long for a museum-style attraction... Will it be the end of Walt Disney: One man's dream?? I hope not! I love it! I always go there to see all the pictures and models of Walt's creations!
Here you are some pictures from the "attraction" (I don't know how to call it, it's like a museum of medium dimensions...):

The Disney Look... to the Past!

Image
Today we'll begin a weekly look into the past of the Disney Company, Parks and resorts!
Here's this week's look to the past! From the Walt Disney Company. All rights are reserved.
This Week in Disney History: May 24-30
May 30, 2003 - DisneyPixar releases Finding Nemo Hard to believe, there was once a time we hadn't swum beyond the drop-off with Marlin, spoken whale with Dory or shredded the EAC with Crush. Tracing a timid clownfish's journey across the Pacific Ocean to reunite with his son, Finding Nemobecame the highest-grossing Disney animated movie of all time and firmly entrenched Pixar Animation Studios as a filmmaking powerhouse. Its resonant themes about friendship, family and perseverance, combined with arresting visual sequences and instantly quotable dialogue ("Fish are friends, not food!") garnered co-directors Andrew Stanton (WallE) and Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3) Pixar's first Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
So immediate was the cultu…

Toy Story Midway Mania video

Image
Since there are new additions to Toy Story Midway Mania, thanks to the WDW News Today site, we can have a fairly good view of the changes on the games of the ride, that include:
Villain icons in the background of the practice game (Lotso, Stretch, etc.)Buttercup the Unicorn (voiced by Jeff Garlin believe it or not) has been added to “Hamm & Eggs”Rex and Trixie now host Dino-Darts, replacing Bo Peep’s Baaa-loon PopAdditions to the prize scene include Trixie, Mr. Pricklepants, Dolly, Buttercup, and the big surprise, spanish-speaking Buzz LightyearThe scoreboards at the very end of the attraction now present scoring for best in vehicle, best this hour, best today, and best this monthIt's very surprising to me too that they put a Spanish Buzz Lightyear! Well, of course in our area many people speak Spanish, so that seems logical.

New attraction coming on 192?

Image
A small new update from U.S. Highway 192 (that goes directly to WDW).
Many of you may not know that there is a vacant castle-like building that has been abandoned for more than 5 years!! Here you are a picture of the castle, that it's being repainted:

I made a research on the internet, but nothing it's said about it... The castle is still on sale, so it may remain unused for even more years.... But why are they repainting it??
Anybody living near that area knows more?

Walkabout way coming to Busch Gardens

Image
A new, Australian themed area is coming this summer as another new addition this year to Busch Gardens Tampa. It joins Sesame Street Safari of Fun, which opened this year too.
Here's the description of the area, which of course, will feature animals found exclusively in Australia:
"Be one of the first to discover unique animals indigenous to the Land Down Under at Busch Gardens’ new Walkabout Way, an immersive animal attraction opening in June. Here you will be able to hand-feed kangaroos and free-roaming wallabies, laugh along with a kookaburra and meet other Australian animals. You'll find a daily feeding schedule at the park’s entrance, then come by to purchase a cup of food and be a part of our newest way to connect with the natural world."

By the way, Annual passholders have a discount when they buy food for the animals.
The normal cost for a cup of food will be $5.

A great DHS update today! There are some works going on here too! Of course, not as much as in Magic Kingdom, but enough!
Here you are the pictures!:

These ads are all over the park in this period:

Let's go to Disney's Hollywood Studios: Where showbiz is Where action takes center stage!

In my humble opinion, that hat is an eyesore:

Lights, Camera... Action!

Nice meet-and-greet:

I have never seen a single Star Wars movie, so don't ask me anything about it, because I don't know anything!!:

The only Star Wars-related movie I have ever seen is... Star Tours!!:

Works continue on New York's facades, and let me say that they look great!:

Pizza Planet:

Muppet*Vision 3D:

Nothing changed on the pre-show (and I'm actually happy about that, for it's hilarious), but they have brand new LCD screens (even though some have strange colors..), a great new carpet in the Main auditorium and a TERRIFIC HD MOVIE! They really improved a lot the movie!!!:

You know why these two are there? They…
